Man who tried to steal metal detector detector from police is a professional metal detector enthusiast

Posted May 14, 2018 09:51:57 A man who attempted to steal a metal detector from the Perth Police Service has been given a warning.
The 36-year-old was caught on camera trying to steal an officer’s gun, badge and handcuffs.
It’s alleged the man attempted to enter the police station at about 6:00pm on Monday (local time) and stole an officer and badge from an officer on duty.
The man was arrested on Wednesday morning.
Police say the man had a history of mental health issues.
He was taken to Perth Magistrates Court and charged with two counts of stealing a firearm, two counts each of burglary and criminal damage.
The suspect’s bail has been set at $50,000 and he’s due back in court on April 17.
The ABC has contacted the WA Police Force for comment.
