A ‘beautiful’ gift for Valentine’s Day, police say

Police in Sydney say a “beautiful” gift for the holiday is causing a stir.

The department said a woman who picked up a parcel with a fake red “v” for Valentine was “disturbed” and “disappointed”.

The woman, who asked not to be named, told officers it had “beautifully” delivered a gift for her family, but her husband had told her to leave it behind.

“She said, ‘I’m not leaving it behind’,” Detective Inspector John Hickey told reporters.

“The man then told her, ‘We don’t like it and we don’t want it here.

You can’t put it in your car’.”

Detective Inspector John says he understands the woman’s desire to leave the parcel, but said police were concerned for her safety.

“There is a genuine concern for the welfare of this woman’s family.

We do not want to discourage them from taking the item home,” Detective Inspector Hickey said.”

They have to consider their own safety and wellbeing and it’s a very complex issue.”

It’s very, very sensitive, and this could easily lead to the death of someone.
